WordPress 5.9, codenamed Josephine, is now available. The significant news with Gutenberg 5.9 is that it now supports full site editing, indicating that it is ready to be used in a live publishing environment.

WordPress Gutenberg is the future of content management, and it’s here now, thanks to the introduction of WordPress 5.9. So this is a good moment to look into what Gutenberg has to offer. Sites that load quicker, are easier to build, and provide a better user experience may help you achieve your business objectives.

Why should you worry before trying WordPress Gutenberg?

Some may believe that waiting a few months or longer before downloading and utilizing Gutenberg is a good idea. That’s a reasonable approach to new technology adoption.

Gutenberg, on the other hand, is not a new technique. Since November 2017, Gutenberg has been “in the works” and has been under continual development since then.

So there’s no need to be concerned about Gutenberg being brand new since it isn’t. In truth, the new site editor is a fully functional tool.

Over the years, sections of the full site editor have been released and tested, culminating in the release of WordPress 5.9.

Gutenberg has now reached full site editing functionality and is ready for live production sites.

In reality, Gutenberg is already being used to build websites, and there are numerous templates available.

You’ll feel at ease using the new Gutenberg complete site editor if you’ve ever used a page builder like Divi or Elementor.

Gutenberg’s goal is to simplify the process of creating websites. As a result, there’s a lot of motivation to use Gutenberg and stay ahead of the curve.

Creating a staging place for learning Gutenberg, either online or on your computer using a desktop development environment like Laragon that replicates a web server, is perhaps the most logical move.

WordPress Default Block Theme

Twenty Twenty-Two (2022!) is a new default block-based theme introduced with the release of WordPress 5.9. This is an excellent place to begin learning how to utilize the new full-block-based site editor.

Version 5.9 of WordPress has been released, and it improves post flow:

“WordPress 5.9 adds new typographic tools, flexible layout settings, and tighter control over aspects like spacing, borders, and more to help you achieve not just the look, but the polish that shows you pay attention to the smaller points.”

It also has a template directory to assist publishers in swapping out ready-to-use blocks that can be altered. Drag and drop functionality is included in WordPress 5.9, making it simple to arrange page items where you want them.

Customizer vanished when using Gutenberg

To change a WordPress page in the past, you had to open the customizer on a separate web page in the Administrators section.

Those that switched to Gutenberg from the old optimizer can now access the site editor.

You can use the Site Editor to style a full website or a single template.

Those who have used the page builder before will be familiar with the block.

The block pattern divides a web page design into pieces, which are referred to as blocks. A web page template is essentially a collection of blocks that have been ordered to form a design and then customized with fonts, colors, and images to create a unique look. Fonts, layouts, and colors can all be customized for each block.

Learn how to build your site with Gutenberg

Simple Site Design with Full Site Editing is a WordPress web course that teaches publishers how to construct sites with Gutenberg.

It’s reasonable that some folks are hesitant to attempt the most recent version of something.

Gutenberg is the newest and most recent, yet it has been around for a long time and is ready to use.

Given that this is WordPress’s future, it’s critical to grasp what it can do and how it may help your company.

List of Block Theme features introduced in WordPress 5.9

  • Navigation
  • Template Part
  • Post Comments
  • Term Description
  • Archive TitleHeader
  • Footer
  • Post-Author
  • Next Post
  • Previous Post
  • Add Site-Wide Styles
  • A New Way to Add Navigation Menus
  • Users can move sections from the ListView on the toolbar. Simply click on an item and move it upwards and downwards.
  • Better Headings Controls
  • Choose Language During Login

The Block Paradigm separates a web page template into portions, which are referred to as blocks. A web page template is nothing more than a collection of blocks that have been arranged to form a design and then customized with fonts, colors, and images. Fonts, layout, and color options are available for each block.

Gutenberg, on the other hand, is not a new technique. Gutenberg has been “in the works” since November 2017 and is still being worked on.

With WordPress 5.9, sections of the whole site editor have been released and tested. You’ll feel at ease using the new Gutenberg complete site editor if you’ve ever used a page builder like Divi or Elementor.

Create a staging area for familiarising yourself with Gutenberg, either online or on your computer, using a desktop development environment like Largon, which simulates a web server.
