What does XD mean?

XD is the acronym for the phrase LOL or Laugh Out Loud. It is an emoticon with the letter X representing two eyes that are closed while laughing hard, whereas D represents laughing with an open mouth.

The term “XD” is usually an expression that is used in text messages or e-mails signaling happiness or laughter.

Though, XD can stand for many things. As an emoticon, it means LOL, which was used before emojis took on their more colorful appearance that we are familiar with nowadays.

Another meaning of “XD” is used by companies like Disney, is extreme digital, and relates to entertainment services provided. There are other more definitions as well, including crossed and kissed, or it can act as an acronym for numerous expressions, depending on the context of the sentence.

The term XD usually used after someone has sent a joke or said something funny. There can be questions regarding what does XD mean but in essence, it is simple. They are sent in a text or chat as a response to something funny.

You can find this particular emoticon populating teenagers’ Facebook posts as well as in their Instagram comment section.

Friend 2: That’s amazingly funny. XD

 

Example 2: A and B are friends and planning about their upcoming trip.

A: Hey, what are you doing?

B: Nothing.

A: Let’s plan for a trip, my mom will prepare everything for us. You just come to my house and we both will move straight away.

B: Really? Your mom is the best! XD

A: Yes, so come to my house now. XD
