Share Google Analytics access

Sharing Google Analytics access is a must when you are working with a team. Google’s enhanced security features allow you to share your Google Analytics with someone but don’t give them access to your Google account at all.

If you are the one who is looking for a way to share your Google Analytics with your web developer and SEO agency, but keep them away from your Google account and YouTube search history. Then, you should go through this article carefully, as giving much access may lead you to risk, and too little access may ask to add work at a later date.

To keep your data safe, secure, and make it easier for others to access just your analytics data. Here’s is a step-by-step process that you should follow.

Share Google Analytics access

Step 1: When you log in to your Google Analytics account. You will see a button on the left bottom of the screen that will take you to your Admin panel. (It appears just like the Gear icon).

Step 2: The admin panel is made up of three sections: The first one is Account (the owner), the second is Property (the website), and the third section is View (your reports).

Step 3: Since you have to manage users and give them specific access, we recommend giving access at the “Property” level. To do that, click on “Property Access Management.”

Features in the admin panel that are Grey in colour mean that you don’t have access and you cannot change the settings of it.

Step 4: A new pop-up appears on the screen where you can view the users who already have access to this property, including their email address along with what level of permissions they have acquired. You need to go to the top right corner of the screen, where you will find the “+” sign in blue colour. You have to click on it.

Step 5: As soon as you click on the “+” sign, you will have a couple of options to choose from, i.e. “Add users” and “Add user groups.”

Step 6: You are almost done now. The last step is to actually add the user or user groups and provide them with the level of access you are comfortable with. To invite someone to view your Google Analytics data, you will need to enter their Google email address (check the notify box appear just below which says, “Notify new users by email” so they get a notification via email).

After entering the email address of a new user, you have to choose the level of access that you want to give to a new user. Just below of email address, you have to choose from the four-level of access as mentioned herein below:

Edit – Can create and edit accounts, properties, views, filters, goals, etc. Cannot manage users.

Collaborate – Can create and edit shared assets, like dashboards or annotations.

Read & Analyze – Can view report and configuration data.

Manage Users – Can add users, delete users, and change user permissions.

Just click on the check box that appears on the right side of the permissions. Once you choose the access level permissions, go to the top right corner of the screen and click on the “Add” button.

That’s it! From next time onwards, the new user logs into their Google Analytics account and see a link to your analytics on their dashboard page.
