Google Classroom has grown in popularity as instructors adjust to online learning. It is a simple yet comprehensive free program that allows educators and students to communicate. After creating a Google Classroom, teachers can invite students to join at any time by email, by providing an invite link, or by sharing the class’s particular invite code.

How to invite students to Google Classroom

On a desktop computer or via the Google Classroom app for Android, iPhone, or iPad, you can add students to your class. This is how you do it.

You can invite students to enroll in your class in 3 ways:

Send an invite link—Students click the link to join.
Send an email invite—Students can join from the email or in Classroom.
Share a class code— Invite Students with a class code.

Note: Students can drop out of classes at any time. Their grades are deleted if they drop out.

Send an invite link—Students click the link to join

There is an invite link for each class you establish. You can send students the URL so they can join your class.

Step 1: Sign in to your Google Classroom account and select your Gmail account to proceed.

Step 2: Create a Class by clicking on “Create Class”, and then click the three stacked dots on the upper right side of the class card to show a selection of alternatives.

Step 3: Copy the invite URL and distribute it with your students in any way you like.

Send an email invite—Students can join from the email or in Classroom

You can invite students to join your class by sending them an email. The invitation can be accepted via email or in Classroom.

Individual students can be invited on Android devices, but not groups. Use the web version of Classroom to invite a group.

Step 1: Select Classroom.

Step 2: Select People from the drop-down menu after selecting the class.

Step 3: Invite students by tapping the Invite button.

Step 4: Type a name or email and then click “Invite.”

Optional Step

Step 5: To invite more students, repeat Step 4.

Note: You can utilize the Google Group’s email alias to invite a group of students. You don’t have to be a member or owner of the group to see who’s in it, but you must be able to see who’s in it and what their email addresses are. If you are unable to view this information, contact your administrator to request that the permissions be changed.

Share a Class Code – Invite Students with a class code

A class code is assigned to each class you create. Students can join your class if you share the code with them. Paste the code into an email or write it on the board to share it.

Step 1: Go to Google Classroom

Step 2: Click the class and you will see the “Class code” just below the class name
