How to delete a comment on Instagram

Oftentimes, we post a comment and immediately realize that we’ve posted the wrong comment or tag the wrong person, even sometimes we misspell a word while posting comments. Also, we want to remove spammy comments posted under our posts. Instagram offers a facility to their users so they can remove such comments, whether we ourselves posted or someone else posted on our posts. In this article, we will walk you through the entire process step by step as to how to delete a comment on Instagram.

Though, you cannot delete someone’s else comments from other posts. You can only remove comments from your posts. Since you won’t see the delete button by default on Instagram comments, therefore an extra step needs to be taken to make it appear to delete the comments accordingly.

How to delete a comment on Instagram

The following steps will appear when you delete comments through a mobile app.

Step 1: Tap on the “View All Comments” that appears below the picture and selects the comment that you want to remove.

Step 2: Tap and hold the comment(s) that you want to remove. A blue strip on top of the screen appears, just click on the “Trash” icon to delete the comment.

Step 3: Once you delete the comment, a strip appears on the bottom of the screen confirming that the comment has been deleted if you change your mind. You can immediately tap on the “Undo” option to restore the comment.

How to delete Instagram comments through iPhone

Below are the simple instructions for deleting a comment on your Instagram post, if you use iPhone.

Step 1: Open your Instagram account.

Step 2: Navigate to the post and tap the “Comment” under the post to see all comments.

Step 3: Touch the comment that you want to remove and swipe to the left until the “Trash” icon appears on the screen.

Step 4: Lastly, simply tap on the “Trash” icon and delete the comment.

Deleting comments through Instagram Website

If you often use Instagram on your computer, you can delete comments from here as well.

Step 1: Open the Instagram website in your browser, and to see the comments you have to select a post to expand it. Now, you will see all the comments on that post on the right-hand side.

 

Step 2: To delete comments, select three horizontal dots, and you will see three options appear on the screen. Click on “Delete” to delete the comments. Alternatively, you have an option to Report or Cancel it.
