How to convert my Facebook Page into a Business Page

Facebook was built to bring people closer together. The whole process of converting a Facebook page into a Business Page will hardly take five minutes, since converting a Facebook page into a business page on Facebook is in the “Basic Information” section of your page settings. Changing your personal account page into a business page can be done only with a simple process of changing the category of the page using drop-down menus. By converting the page into business, you can keep all of your contacts and information of your original Facebook page, though it has converted and recategorized as a business page.

As you would know personal Facebook pages are meant only for individual people whereas for businesses, Facebook provides pages for businesses and organizations separately. Facebook offers more strong features for businesses and organizations that are more suitable to meet your business requirements.

So, if you still using a personal Facebook profile to promote your business or doing business activities through your personal account. You are strongly recommended either to convert your page into a business page or create a new Facebook page since Facebook stated clearly that you run a risk of losing your profile if doing business activities through your personal account.

In this article, we will walk you through the steps you need to perform in order to convert your personal Facebook Page to a Business one. So, let’s get into it…

Step 1: Back up your profile data

As soon as you decide to convert your personal profile page to a business page. You must download a backup copy of your profile data which includes your posts, images, and other related things to your personal account.

Please note that the profile photo and friends (converted to likes) will be moved to your new business page, and no other data will be moved. In case, you require any other information on your new business page from your existing personal account, you should need those backup files of your personal account that you have already taken before converting your page into business.

You can download your data backup by following these below steps:

Click the accounts menu at the top right of your Facebook page and select “Settings & Privacy” and then click “Settings” again.

Click “Your Facebook information” in the left-hand column

Click on “View” mentioned alongside “Download your information”

Click “Create File”

Step 2: Change your profile name & address to reflect your business page

The next step that you have to take is to check whether the business page which will be created after migration will have the same name as your personal profile name. If not, edit your personal account name in order to match with your business page name.

Make sure your profile name reflects your business page name before going to the next step. Below is the procedure as to how you can change or edit your name in your personal profile.

Click the accounts menu at the top right of your Facebook page and select “Settings & Privacy” and then click “Settings” again.

Click “General” in the left-hand column

You will reach the page as shown in the below image, all you need to do is to click “Edit” and change your name.

 

Step 3: Convert your personal profile to a business page
