Though, it is true that you cannot cancel a payment if the status shows “Completed” in your Activity. But, you can be able to contact the end recipient/seller to request a refund within 180 days of making your payment.

You can also report to the Paypal resolution centre, if you did not make any payment, report such unauthorized transaction to the Resolution Center immediately.

Further, you can raise a dispute in the resolution centre of Paypal as well, in case you did not receive the products or services for which you have paid for. By doing this, you will get an access to communicate directly with the seller.

You can only cancel the payment if

  • You had sent the payment to any email address that does not have a PayPal account.
  • The payment you had sent to the email address has not been verified.
  • If in case you sent the payment to the correct email address, then you need to cancel the payment before recipient claims the payment.
  • Though, even if email address doesn’t exist at all, it is still recommend cancelling payment.

How to cancel pending or unclaimed payment?

Log into your PayPal account

 

On the Activity page, find the payment you want to cancel and select the same

 

Click Cancel (You will be directed to a new page)

 

Click Cancel payment here again..!!

Important Note: If you had made the payment from your bank account directly rather than the money exists in your PayPal account, then payment will be returned to your PayPal account only. You can then easily transfer the same from your PayPal account back into your bank account within a few days / or no later than 30 days.

How to Cancel Recurring / Subscriptions Payments?

Many people also having regular subscription for the products or some services, for which their PayPal account will be debited every month on regular basis.

If you want to cancel such transactions, as you do not want to carry on with some products or services. You may choose to cancel such subscriptions as well that you are paying for every month.

These cancellations are really quick and quite simple to cancel recurring / subscriptions payments on PayPal.

Log in to your PayPal account

Click on settings

Go to Financial information

 

Scroll the page down until you find “Automatic payments”, as shown in the below picture.

Click on “Set Automatic Payments”

Click on drop down button “Filter status by” and you will find numerous option here, likewise Active, Suspended, Completed, Cancelled and Pending Cancellation.

You can now easily manage your payments for subscriptions, automatic invoice payments and installment plan payments.

Important Note: You must cancel your subscription before 24 hours is schedule to be renewed.

What Can I do If my payment cannot be cancelled?

If you cannot be able to cancel your payment on PayPal, don’t get panic! There are lots of other options which you can still try in order to get / claim your money back.

If you had sent the money inadvertently to someone that you know, you can just request them to refund the money back to your PayPal account.

If you had sent payment to the company or firm, you can either request a refund directly from them or else you can contact PayPal Resolution Center to lodge complaint. PayPal customer service team will then look into your case and will try their best to help you out in order to get the payment back to your account.
